The following is information about the City of South San Francisco's response to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and reduce the number of people infected (SSF's COVID response page). 

Community engagement related to the South San Francisco General Plan 2040 project will continue, but for the time being will transition to an online format through methods such as online Community Forums, informational videos and surveys to gather input. During this time the project team will continue to update this website with the latest information about the project. Please stay tuned.


Shape SSF 2040 is an update to the City of South San Francisco's General Plan.

This plan has an impact on almost every aspect of our community, including safety, transportation, and housing.

Over the course of the next three years, Shape SSF 2040 will be developed with guidance from you.

Notice of Preparation of a Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Notice of Public Scoping Meeting

South San Francisco will prepare a Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed South San Francisco General Plan Update. The EIR will address the potential physical and environmental effects of the proposed project. The City is soliciting comments regarding the scope and content of the Program EIR, and the environmental issues and alternatives to be addressed in the Program EIR. The public review period will begin on February 3, 2021 and end on March 22, 2021
